An effortlessly elegant destination in Glyfada, where understated luxury, food, music and contemporary art come together in a space that celebrates flavour, design and the cosmopolitan spirit of the Athens Riviera

As you step inside, calm is the first thing you feel, even before you have time to take the space in. The sea stretches out behind the large windows, light glides across wood and marble surfaces, and for a moment it feels as if the city has been left behind.
With references to the elegance and glamour of the mid-20th century, Bungalow 7 brings the emblematic “Asteria” landmark in Glyfada into a new era and offers a fresh take on the Athens Riviera.

As you walk through the entrance, your gaze is drawn first to the far end, where the line of the Saronic Gulf becomes the backdrop for the entire room. A few steps later, an impressive fireplace in the foyer makes you pause, before you reach the long marble bar, clad in wood and dark tiling, with an almost mysterious atmosphere.

The space is full of small “stops”: tables for two by the water, round tables for groups in the centre, more secluded corners for a glass of wine, and the avant-garde Bedroom with its sofa-beds for more theatrical arrivals. Wherever you sit, you have the sense of discovering something – a design detail, an artwork, a shift in the light.

A contemporary seaside villa
Part of the historic Asteria complex, Bungalow 7 feels like a contemporary seaside villa firmly rooted in modernism. Across roughly 2,000 square metres, enclosed and semi-open areas unfold like a sequence of rooms, with large openings, skylights and expanses of glass that bring the Saronic literally to the table. Clean lines, simple forms and a seamless flow between indoors and out set the tone.

What wins you over gradually are the materials: timber on walls and ceilings, marble underfoot and along the bar, textured plaster finishes, earthy tones and rug “islands” that carve out smaller seating areas.
The retro-inspired furniture, designed exclusively for Bungalow 7 and upholstered in plush fabrics, adds a soft touch of glam – nothing showy, but the kind you feel as soon as you sit down.

Design and art in dialogue
Art plays its own role here: a textile piece by The Callas (Lakis and Aris Ionas) welcomes you above the sofa at the entrance; Marc Quinn’s emblematic Eye Iris opens a gaze towards the sea; while works by Stella Kapezanou and Nick Thomm bring colour and narrative to different corners – even in the bathroom.
Above the large communal table, Verpan’s iconic VP Globe pendants hover like transparent spheres of light, filtering the daylight and the orange glow of the sunset over the sea.

Cosmopolitan cuisine with a Mediterranean soul
The kitchen at Bungalow 7 has a cosmopolitan outlook – not in the sense of ostentatious luxury, but of an open, well-travelled palate. Many different influences converse on the plate, yet the foundations remain firmly Mediterranean: good olive oil, fresh vegetables, herbs and fish. Asian touches appear discreetly in sauces, marinades and techniques, adding brightness and intensity without overwhelming familiar flavours. The sushi menu fits naturally into this approach, built around fresh fish and playful Mediterranean accents.

Chef Dinos Fotinakis, with his youthful energy and unwavering dedication, infuses every dish with finesse, technical precision and a creative eye. His background includes time at Michelin-starred Spondi alongside Jérôme Serres and later at Bill & Coo in Mykonos – experience he now channels into a relaxed yet exacting seaside all-day setting.

The menu follows the same philosophy: dishes designed with care and consistency, where confident technique and clean execution confirm the chef’s steady hand. Brunch features creative egg dishes, generous sandwiches, fluffy doughs and refreshing bowls made for sharing. The main menu offers crisp salads, comforting pastas, carefully prepared fish and meat plates, as well as lighter options for those who prefer something more delicate – a kitchen that invites you to taste, to share and to return.

A little escape within the city
Whether you come for a slow brunch that drifts into an afternoon cocktail, or for dinner just as the sun dips into the Saronic Gulf, Bungalow 7 feels like a small escape within the city. It’s the kind of place you want to arrive at a little early, to take in the space, the art and the details – and leave a little later, when the music softens and the light turns warmer.
