Abra Ovata5

Lake Vouliagmeni is a tranquil microcosm, with its cliffs, calm waters, and hushed energy gently nudging you into relaxation mode. In this already magical setting, Abra Ovata has found a way to blend in gracefully.

The design reflects a cosmopolitan simplicity—white linen tablecloths, cushioned sofas, Zeus + Dione umbrellas, and a mellow music backdrop. This is not a place to just check in and snap a photo—it invites you to linger. Whether it’s a quick lunch after a swim or a long, lazy sunset dinner, it sets the mood for effortless indulgence.

The menu is fusion, but not flashy. Rooted in Greek tradition, with bold touches from Latin America and Asia, it brings together ingredients in a way that feels both comforting and refined.

Highlights:

  • Athenian crab salad on crispy rice bruschetta, topped with bottarga dust
  • Calamari with tarragon aioli and togarashi (a Japanese seven-spice blend)
  • Seafood paella with shrimp, mussels, octopus and bomba rice in rich fish stock
  • Seared tuna with olive oil, yuzu, and jalapeño—juicy, aromatic, and perfectly balanced
  • For dessert: the irresistible Paris-Brest with Aegina pistachio, crafted by pastry chef Kalliopi Marou

At the helm is John Skotidas, executive chef with roots in Lefkada and the Philippines, a childhood spent in Panama, and a career built in some of London’s top kitchens. His menu—shaped by Latin American and Asian influences but grounded in Greek ingredients—is cleverly divided into Land, Sea & Farm. It’s executed with precision by the excellent chef de cuisine Vaggelis Dagdelenis.

Best suited for:

  • A romantic dinner or anniversary celebration
  • Stylish brunch after a swim
  • Business lunch with discreet luxury
  • Not ideal for large groups with kids or noisy reunions
  • Perfect for private dinners, brand events, or receptions under the moonlight reflected in the lake

Things to consider
Prices, though not excessive by Riviera standards, are on the high side, and a couple of dishes could be a bit more generous in portion.

Tip for the perfect visit:
Arrive at dusk—when the lake mirrors the blue twilight and everything feels straight out of a movie scene.
